RWD civic
Where do you get a cost-effective transaxle for a Ford 5.0L? I don't know of any FWD Fords that came with that engine. There's a ZF-5 transmission used in '70+ DeTomaso Panteras, and the '63-'65 Ford GT-40, but it's like $5500-$30,000 for those. I don't think there's a transversely mounted transaxle for it either. I've never worked on one that wasn't straight-drive. I'm not sure you'd have the room in a civic to use that drivetrain. You'd need a longer wheelbase.
The nice thing about the Northstar is that it's from a FWD V8 setup and is really compact. It's transversely mounted.

No offense, but judging by your questions/responses, I seriously doubt you're capable of a project like this. Anythings possible with money, time and skill. I doubt you have all three. Try finding an experienced fabricator in your area and see what he has to say about it. But to be more to the point, it would be DAMN HARD.
Again, not trying to diss you, just trying to be helpful. :happysad:
BTW, My choice of motor for the backseat of a hatch: Saab 9000 Aero motor.
