internal... damn that sucks, is there a tech writup on how to replace it? or anything i should look out for? do i have to remove the engine mounts?

No, engine mounts stay right where they are. It's the exact same service as the timing belt - t-belt cover, belt tensioner, crank pulley, etc. Any halfway decent guide can walk you through it. The crank pulley bolt can be a real SOB, though... that's about the only tricky part. I did the entire job on my old 82 Volvo with NO prior mechanical experience of any kind in about 2 weekends... and had virtually no problems.

yea.. its an auto what the hell do i do to stop the crank from moving, i bent the shit out of a scewdriver already

there is a special tool that fits inside the crank pulley(if you noticed, it has a hex design) and then a 1/2" breaker bar fit into a tab on that

What you do is take off the "flywheel cover" and stick a screw driver in between the teeth on the torque converter (or flywheel if you have a 5spd), and slowly turn the crank until it locks into place, then just go to town on the bolt. The screw driver should hold the crank in place easily. The closer to the front or back of the tranny that you can do it, the better. Less risk of cracking the bell housing.
