Default antenna replacement

ok, so in the last storm i had a tree took off my antenna (have a 97 lx 4 dr) manual pull out kind. I got new one, but when i went to route the plug had been pulled out of the place in the dash, so I cant use it to route a new one, i tried to wind the new one through with no luck, i think i see the hole it is suppose to go through but dont see how i can possibly get my hand in there to fish it out or get it down there, any ideas? or can i make some kinda of internal antenna and jsut cap off the outside one? I really like my radio for travel/weather info, thanks.

Well if you can see the hole but can not snake the wire through just a small stick tie a piece of wire to it and the other end of the wire to the annt and that should do it !

I had the same problem... you can do what Honura suggest and snake it through, but it was a b*tch for me. So instead, I just replaced it with an aftermarket windshield mount or other antenna...that mounts elsewhere, works fine.

I got the windshield mount antenna from Radio Shack, you can search this forum or the internet for a similar one.

The one from Radio Shack is a thin wire in what looks like scotch tape and it goes along the inside of the windshield.... the reception was fine for me when I had it, I just didn't do a neat job installing it so I removed it, otherwise, it worked great for me. You can try it, they sell it for like $8.

Yeah, getting the antenna back through is a pain I even attached a string to the old one and then when I was pulling the new antenna back through, the string broke off and I could never grab it with my hand.

Check out this post I made a little while back
https://www.honda-acura.net/forums/s...hreadid=115924

It summarizes my story and what I did for an antenna.

mitsurugi: you hide the entire mast under the carpet, did you get an extension wire to have it reach to the passenger side?

Nope. I just connected the antenna to the back of my deck and ran it behind my carpet around where your feet go then through the door sill. If you need a longer one you can just untape the antenna from that goofy plastic housing if you know what I mean

Pics?

Sorry, I never actually took pics because it was an unclean install, I only planned on using it temporarily, but ended up using it for years until I took it off to install another antenna.
