Removing rear door panel
I'm trying to remove the rear door panel off a 93 civic 4 door that has manual windows. What do I need to do to get it off? I was able to get the window handle, and tray out but not the door handle. I tried searching but no luck.

Anywho, there should be plasitc clips running around the outer edge of the door panel which are pressed into the door frame. I suggest using a sturdy, flat, metal plate about 2" wide to pry the door panel away from the door frame.
Some auto stores sell tools to do just this.

So, aside from plastic clips, which I know about from other cars, the panel did not come out without breaking something. Read this: there are two screws to take out, one on the "pull the door toward you" cup-like thing, and the other one behind the "open the door" handle itself. Well, after you unscrew the screws, just "pulling hard" on the panel will break the plastic tabs on the plastic door handle assembly. After breaking the tabs and looking inside, I found that you must simple SLIDE the plastic door handle assembly forward about a quarter of an inch to free the tabs. DO NOT just pull the assembly and the panel. When you get it off you will see what I mean. So, to take the rear door panel off an Honda Civic 1995, do the following:
1. pry or pull the panel off from the bottom
2. unscrew 2 screws, one in the pull and one in the handle itself.
3. slide the handle assembly forward 1/4 to 1/2 inch forward and pull it out.
4..lift the panel off the door and pull outward.

When I first took the door panel off a 5th gen civic, to fix my sister's outer handle, the only thing I had difficulty with was the trim piece at the top. Whereas you just pull w/ bare hands around the perimeter for the bottom and sides (once screws removed), you simply lift the panel up to get the top free (after inner mirror cover is pulled off). That's how it is on pretty much all cars but I didn't realize back then
h: luckily I was able to bend that trim straight again.
Oh, and you remove the inner door handle from the linkage before removing the panel (obvious when you look at it), don't leave it on and force it through the hole in the panel like I did back then

h: It actually fits through both ways if you work at it, I blame the dimly lit garage :hsugh:
