If you are saying $4k is too much and you are asking about an H22A, you need to realize something: it's going to cost the better part of $4k to get an H22 in that car.
Buy a B18B swap and a B20B/Z longblock. Swap all the stuff from the B18B onto the B20B/Z and sell the B18B. You now have a B20B/Z swap, it's easy from there.
$4k to get the h22 to get it into my car? whats up with that? and correct me if im wrong, but i would think buying 2 engines would be far more expensive then just buying one...even if i eventually sell the other one..y would someone want to buy the b18 if there were no parts on it..what is so good about the b18 that u would want to put it onto the b20z.what is so good about this "double swap"...snoopy..the b20 was on a crv? those get decent hp and torque? do they fit in the civic engine bay? where could i find one of those? btw..thanx for the info, sorry for being an annoying noob type person =)
OK, let's crunch numbers.
H22A swap, about $2k
shipping, $300
mounts, $650 (HASport MSRP)
axles, $400 (HASport MSRP)
Cable shift assembly, about $50
That's $3400 so far.
Plus a new water pump, timing belt, hoses, plugs, wires, engine oil, transaxle oil, coolant, replacements for shit that breaks, etc.
I hope you can put in in yourself too, or else you'd be looking at $500 to $1500 installation labour costs if you take it to a shop.
Prices are significantly cheaper for a B-series. You need to buy a B18B swap to keep things simple, or else you'll need to source a transaxle, ECU, axles, intake manifold, and some other stuff by yourself because B20B/Z longblocks don't come with that junk. Yes, you need it all.
On that note, lots of people will buy a B18B longblock "without parts on it." It is a valuable engine alone, about a $100 head and a $300ish block. You could probably squeeze $500 out of it whole, including the leftover CRV manifolds.

h22 is going to cost the most... u have to redone ur front end...
if ur lookin for cheap go with b18b(LS)its around $750 for the motor(that the whole motor) i can see what the whole swap would be...and later down the road when u get more money do a LS/VTEC...
Any other motor is going to get from $2800(b16a2 complete)- $5-6-7-9 and up

for the ls/vtec, dont u just swap the heads or something like that? how much does that cost? having VTEC doesnt add any horsepower though so what is the point?..snoopy, i dont think im going to go with the B20...if i wanted 127 hp..i would just keep a SOHC...right? or is it just that the b20 has better chances for increased hp with the right mods?..ok..so the H22..is out of the picture right now..certainly does sound like it is going to be expensive...man..the b16a2 is 2800? thats kindof the one i want..but are all 99 civic si manual? cuz i have an automatic..which would pose a problem...ne one have any other engine purchasing links?..hmm...JLAUDIO has not responded?
