The only question left is legality. In my state of Virginia, it is illegal to have a working nitrous system in a car. As long as the bottle is not connected when driving, you're good. I've been asked by cops before if my car had a nitrous system (I don't, but I had a few extra switches in my car for other things) if I did, and they found it, they would have towed my car.
Kai hit it on the nail on the head. N2O or turbo will only harm your car if you do something wrong or stupidly. Fuel is important in both.
How come WRXs, Eclispes, RX-7s, Supra, etc are good cars if looked after right?

Oh and to whoever said "WERE GOING FOR SPEED,NOT RELIABILITY", that makes good sense for a 2nd or track car......... no sense for those of us who have to drive every day to work
Really the thing that seems to determine reliability is compression ratios. I have a friend that has a 1992 Integra with the LS/vtec swap (B18 block w/B16 head for nuubs) and Type R pistons. It makes around 197 hp, but it breaks down every other week. Everybody I know who has problems with their modified car has them because of mods like that or turbos etc. that increase compression/advance timing. Plus, the damn thing has an SiR transmission bolted to it so when he cruises on the highway at 65 its turning at 5500 RPMs. So i dont see why a gassed or turboed engine, driven responsibly, is going to have problems.
