Apexi V-afc vs. Aftermarkt ECU chip
2k Civic Si, will soon have I/H/E and high flow cat. i'm gonna be running a 4-1 long tube header so i'm also gonna get adjustable cam gears and cams to run a nice overlap and take advantage of the scavenging effect. after the header goes in, is it better to get an ECU chip or a V-afc to pull every last drop of power from the car? thanks!

chips NORMALY effect ignition... vafc does not.. vafc is mostly for changing cam cross over and fuel curve.. if i had the choice well i did.. and i went with a vafc..
IMHO hondata (as suggested) is GROSS OVERKILL for your setup

Still here... sorta...
Yes, Hondata can control EVERYTHING!
You don't need it though. I don't even know why you'd need a VAFC with your setup. :dunno:
Hondata owns all... nuff said.

A "chip" will control fuel/ignition maps, vtec x-over, redline, enable/disable sensors per your request, full-throttle launch, boost, all sorts of nifty stuff.
Here is how I feel about the AFC's "You can add fuel but not spark." I think it's pretty self explanatory.
For a 00 si, you are looking at getting an OBD1 P28 ecu and a conversion harness.
