I know mine is an eclipse but most FWDs are the same. I just took the suspension arm (that bolts up to the a-arm) and beat it against my fender, while having someone hold the axel near the hole. Couple of hits and it popped right in.

put the axle in as far as you can with your hands, then take a hammer and whack the end until the rest goes in. :goodjob:

Always works for me. Doing that tomorrow actually.

the very end of the axle. the part that goes into the hub. Hit it before you put it into the hub.

Gahhh, hitting scares me. I simply lined it up, pushed the inboard end in first. It would only go in so far, so my dad got down there and attempted to manually twist it slowly why I applied pressure to the inboard CV joint. Eventually, it reached the sweet spot and just slid right in and clicked. Then I put the outboard end into the hub and was done with it! Reassemble from there!

Get it in as far as you can, then slide it into the knuckle, and swing the knuckle to pop it into the tranny. No damage to the axle, and no damage to the knuckle.

DING DING DING!!! we have a winner

but usually my boy is in the garage with me so when i do axle replacements on customer cars,..i usually just have him pop the axle into place,..he just shoves that bastard till it clicks,..6'3 pushing 300 pounds,..having friends like that usually has some advantages h:
