b18c vs. b16a vs. type r

H22 Swap installed equals about $4000 (thats for mounts, axles, swap, etc) talk to Newman on H-T, or Brian at HASport if you don't believe me...
plus, if you have a 6th Gen, H22 is completely bolt-in
I hardly think high performance springs and a rear sway bar are major suspension mods...
your criticizing your friend for hearing stuff on the 3rd hand, yet the only thing you know about this swap was heard 3rd handly. an so on and so forth.
I just think many of HAN's newer members post things without really researching it first, so if you don't know or have no experience you shouldn't post about that PARTICULAR subject matter.

im still gonna try and convince him to do a more straight forward swap... like the b18b turbo or b18c

I've just noticed a lot of misinformation on HAN recently, it bugs me because I like this place, its one of the only honda boards online where you feel like your friends with all the other members.:fawk:
gsr swap and suspension work.
i'm spending around the $4-5k range on just rebuilding my b16a2. personally, i think i'm being very unreasonable. i could get an LS VTEC for about $800 more. i could swap in a b18c1 and get similar power.
but i like my b16. there's just something about the sound and the hig rpms possible. i don't know.
i recommend the b18c1. it is a good starting point, has a lot more torque (isn't it like 30-something lbs-ft?). it's longer stroke is ideal for a high output 4-cylinder

yea, best bang for the buck, if you will...
the b16a2 and b18c1 are definetly the best swaps for the civic...
unless you can afford the type r's ... you bastards :madfawk:
anyway, thanks... that's probably what he'll end up doing... i told him go with HMotors like i did for lack of knowledge of a better place.
Man, screw the B series! Just go get 2 D16A6 blocks, slap on a y8 head...but before you do that build that engine up with forged internals and rev the sucker to 9k! Oh yeah, shoot a 200 shot and don't forget your slicks!
I'm just messing with ya. I'll tell you this, all the B series engines you listed each have pros and cons. There's viewpoints for each as to why you should pick that "one". Just decide how much money you want to shell out and then try to stick with it.

Good luck.
