Shit can be replaced no matter how much it costs. Even on the extremely off chance I had a gun as "insurance".. I'd scare them with it first if they're unarmed. This going in.. guns a blazing attitude is fucking scary, imo. Shoot first ask questions later? What? If they're not threatening your life or the life of a loved one... there's no reason to take theirs.
