I'd talk to your/an ENT in that case. There are a number of things they can do for you and not all of them are as big as a septoplasty.

For example, if your deviation isn't severe and you also have enlarged turbinates they can do an in-house radio wave reduction. You're in and out in little time with local anesthetics and you it's something like a 3 day recovery period.

and yes, I puncture my ear drums regularly. If not by accident by force, and generally it's not as serious as it sounds to perform. As I child I found to bare all pain, find out what hurt my ears the most, and to do it until the ear drum was punctured. Pain and fullness instantly subside and give way to healing and comfort.

It sounds insane, but in reality I do it all the time without thinking now, ear pain is just a memory for me as the scar tissue build up and pain tolerance have pretty much gotten rid of all feeling. [to the dismay of my ENTs, who have found that I don't even realize I have a serious sinus infections until they're way overboard]
