I don't really know much about rebuilding a bottom end...I am just diving in with my trusty Helm's manual and internet as resources.

500 on pump? That is pretty ambitious. Good luck.

You know that as soon as you get this thing to 400 you'll want more... and a year later even more. It's no small task to garage your car, tear down the engine, and ship it off to be sleeved so I think you should just do it while you're in the current situation. What better time will you have? It's much easier to replace internals than it is to have block work done... just a perspective to consider.
Based on your knowledge, I expect you to achieve just what (and more than) you have expressed here. You're in for a fun ride.

I was hoping you would see this thread and offer some input.
I haven't heard many bad things about Eagle rods. A ton of people are using them and they have been proven to reliably make the power I am looking for, so unless I find an insane deal on some beefier rods, I'll stick with them.
I have contemplated sleeving the block and it isn't time that worries me, but money. I am currently working full time making decent money but as soon as school starts again in late August, I will go back to part time and money will be super tight. As much as I would love to sleeve and bore to a 2.0L, it just doesn't fit into the budget. :happysad:
Thanks for your input, though. I will definitely consider your advice. :goodjob:
