I had a friend who took a Cashier's Check for his swapped Civic, had his mother (who was a bank manager) just look at it and she said it looked legit, went to cash it and it was bogus.
fuck that, verifying funds only guarantees that the funds were there when you called. have the dude take you to his bank, where you will cash the check and exchange it for a certified check, or cash if you dont mind hauling it around until you get to your bank.....
