DIY side molding shaving?
Anyone performed this on thier own? I think my 5th gen would look alot better w/o the molding. Im thinking it wouldn't be too difficult to perform this. Remove the moldings, remove the inner door panel and plastic to access the inside of the door. Lay a strip or two of fiberglass on the inside of the door covering the holes where the moldings mounted. Then sand down the area where the moldings were, bondo, sand some more, primer,paint and enjoy your finished product. Sounds easy but has anyone done it themselves?

my car was rear ended, and pushed into the car in front of me. ins $$ covered shaving my sides, washer nozzles, rear trunk seam, and full bodykit. i lucked out i guess :thumbup:

Well if you use your bondo idea and what he did really soon the bondo will break and everyone can tell how ****ty of a job it was and if you paint it by then, well, you will be in BIG trouble. So basically find a buddy that can weld, weld metel covering the molding to sit flush, then grind down the welds, spread bondo, and sand. Then you know you have done a good job.
