ATF (Automagic Transmission Fluid) for a 6th Gen
aiight i've seen all these performance ATF's on the market for better lubrication for hard driving (such as dragging and autocrossing)...but honda recommends only the Honda ATF (but of course they would) are there ATF's out there that work better than the Honda brand for hard driving?

Go with Honda ATF Fluid, stay away from other fluids. The same goes for the oil filter, brake fluid, power steering fluid.

i hate honda auto trannies. use the honda atf, that way if you have a problem you can say you used the proper fluid otherwise they may give you a hard time. get an auxiliary tranny cooler if you drive hard.

Let's all keep in mind....the Accord is NOT a race car, so their transmissions are not meant for dragging or whatever else it is you want to do. The Honda ATF is not really anything special. The last 2 tranny services I've done to my car, I used Valvoline synthetic ATF, and the trans has worked just fine. Now that I have access to free honda ATF (leftover quarts from services on other cars), I will use that in my car, but it's not really required.

whether you drive you car hard or not honda trannies blow. try a search and see how many people have blown trannies. you know honda also upgraded the warranty on 00-02 V6s to 100K cause of problems. also the first batch of 98 V6s also had some intial problems too. it's true driver is the cause of some of the problems, but there is evidence that the tranny isn't very good to begin with.

I am currently replacing a 01 Odyssey transmission at work, and I'm awaiting authorization to replace a transmission from a 99 V6 Accord Coupe...so I'm well aware of their failure rate
