Default 2004 TSX Red Paint Fade

It is like "clouds" on the top of the car, front, top and
rear of car. The rich dark red is no more? Living north
of Minnesota takes care of the "strong southern sun"
excuse? Only 4 years old, dealer offered to pay $700
of a $2,000 partial paint job. Is this normal?

Its recommended that you detail and wax the car every 6 months. If you havent been taken care of it, then Im sure the paint would start to fade after some time, especially considering that you get a substantial amount of snow fall in your area. I would try to get it buffed and waxed, and see where that takes you.

yeah the road salts and all the particulate matter in the snow (gravel/mud/dust/pollution/chemicals) wreak havoc on your finish.

You should have a detailer take a look at it. Your paint is a 2 stage paint. There is a base coat, which is your color. Then there is a clear coat, which is clear and meant to protect the color. Chances are that the clear coat is failling. A good detailer will be able to remove a small amount of your clear coat using compounds and polish. This process can restore a shine to your paint if done properly. By the way, this is something that is best left to professionals so make sure you find someone who knows what they are doing.

The dealer will only cover $700? Have you contacted Acura Client Services?

Default Same problem

Hey mike. I also have a 2004 acura tsx red that has the paint fade. I was wondering if you ever found a solution? I don't think it is due to not waxing it enough or harsh conditions.

Default Red Acura TSX with serious paint fade

My mechanic told me that the paint fade on my 2005 Acura TSX is not normal.

I plan to call Acura Client services this week.

I am really surprised how much the paint has faded on the top and trunk.

I also have an 04 TSX and the paint is turning pink on the hood, roof, and trunk. I am also noticing the tops of the doors starting to go as well. I keep it in the garage and wash and wax it. I also went to a local Acura dealer and showed them what was happening and they offered me the same thing as the first post. Pay for half of a $2200 paint job just for the top surfaces. I did not do it as I was afraid the paint would not blend well. I even took the car to a top notch paint shop and the owner rubbed a compond that will take away oxidation and it did nothing. It appaered to be under the clear coat. I am so mad as I thought in getting an Acura I was getting a high quality car but it seems that is not the case as far as the paint goes. I bought the car used so I am still paying on this car that is now starting to look like a beater with all the pink spots. I don't even want to think what it will look like when I am done paying on it in three years.

I bought a red 2006 Acura TSX in March of this year. At the time I purchased the car, it looked great (I think they may have just waxed it) after a couple of months I noticed that the paint was turning pink, mostly on my hood and trunk but have started to notice it on other areas. I have had it looked at by several detailing and auto body shops and they all have said the same, the paint looks like a manufacture defect. When I purchased my car it had just less than 50,000 miles, once I noticed the paint fading I was over 50,000 so I do not think the manufacture will cover any costs. I am pretty sure this is a defect in the paint since one of my co-workers has a 2004 red TSX and hers is doing the same thing. I am truly frustrated, this was my dream car since it made the lot in 2004 and it looks like I have had it since 1984. I am very disappointed; I look at my car and want to cry. If anyone has any suggestions or have had any positive response from Acura, please let me know.
