I went with SA because the local track officals wont let you on the track with M :happysad: (local track = Sears Point and Laguna Seca
)

)I want to do Time Trials and Hill Climbs next year so I'll have to get an SA helmet soon (and other stuff like suit, gloves, shoes, etc.)

SA Bell Mag4: better to yell across the cockpit over the engine/screaming tires.
I only bought it because I had to have it for NPM04 at BeaverRun, and most places I track its required to be an SA.

Resurrecting this thread...
Ok.. so wifey says "what do you want for Christmas"? And I'm thinking about Driving School at Thunderhill Raceway and a helmet. The thunderhill website isn't explicit (other than saying must be Snell approved). I need one helmet for:
- autocross
- karting
- track (Thunderhill, and Leguna Seca... if my dreams ever come true)
Are SA helmet legal for motorcycle usage?
Do I need to get an SA helmet or will M do?
Are there track restrictions on open/closed face?

I don't think SA helmets are motorcycle legal, but I do not ride motorcycles. The SA helmets are heavier than M helmets. So in an accident I would assume an SA helmet would cause more injury.
As far as tracks you should call or ask to make sure before you make a purchase. Some organizations allow M helmets others do not.
