Default SCCA Solo II

I have a question about the rules for the Street Prepared. Why don't they allow side skirts? On the next class up they do. What difference does it make? I kind of understand length or extrusion limits but I don't see the performance gain. And what the hell is a movable side skirt. I guess these are general rules because I am pretty sure that the F1 cars have adjustable skirts that direct airflow for stability. I can just see some scmuck with a home made adjustable side skirt and adjustable aluminum wing. But anyway, my concern is not to be put in the higher Street Modified just because of some simple cosmetics. I should fit in the Street Prepared.

Thanks....

If those are the mods in your signature you would be better off in STS anyway. You would be slaughtered in CSP.

STS allows basic bolt ons. Same class I've been running for 7 years. And you are allowed side skirts although it's not going to help much, but for SP it's because it helps air flow.

if you're starting out.. as CivicSiRacer said, start in sts.. when you gain experience and want to experiment with r-compound tires then you can move to dsp..

I also have powerstop slotted-cross drilled rotors. Im pretty sure I fit in SP unless I spent some more money to go back to stock. I can already tell you that I can't really do that. I was just thinking of getting into solo II because I really want to push my car to limits but around here I don't want to risk my baby by doing stupid stuff. This is my daily driver for now. Hopefully I can eventually use it purely for enjoyment. My very poor mans ferrari. (you know....After I get my '04 TL ). Maybe then I can spend the time rebulding the engine till my heart contents and pocket book allows.

I was wondering how you went about getting sponsers. Just the way you drive or did you go after them. You get money or just parts? Thanks alot for the help. Also that link you have on your signature is nice. Lots of helpful information.

if you want to just get into it then just get into it.

guaranteed that you wont be competitive so just go and have fun. you don't have to run in your class. you can always run in and class/run group. just put fun run/WRG (wrong run group).

You are allowed slotted and/or drilled rotors in STS also.

Yeah, I found out quickly that I wont plan on winning much in SM. Although there are a few cars that I can beat.. the crazily modified ones I wont have a chance at.

If you got a swap.. your like me, SM(street mod) If your car came originally with only 2 seatbelts, then you are in SM2. There are a few that dont go in SM2 like crx and a few others.

But pretty much you wont plan on winning unless you have plenty of money. I compete against an audi a4, upgraded turbo all that crap, hoosiers, thing is crazy fast. But at least its fun.
