First you need to go to http://www.scca.com and go to Solo2 and find an event near you.

Then read the help page in my sig.

Each region is different. But the average price is like $15-30.

Do you have a website for the club holding the event? Usually, you can either pre-register through their website, contact their autocross chairperson, or sign up at the event.

Fees as CivicSiRacer said are usu. $15-30. You don't need a helmet for most events as the host club usually has loaner helmets.
As for you not needing a fast car, forget the car, it's the driver. I can almost gaurantee there will be someone there driving a rinky dink little car faster than others in a 'fast' car. There always is.

You can autox anything that isn't likely to roll over. You'll find everything from the family Accord to open wheel racers at an autox. It's all in good fun.

They group cars into different "classes" based on car type and modifications, so you'll be competing against similar-performance cars.
