I agree. I chose the V1 over the 8500 for a few reasons, one being that the accessories are very helpful for custom installs.

Thanks! i just got a ticket for going 42 over speed limit. IS that a fine or revoke of license in nyc? its my first time getting caught. usally i keep an eye out and catch em before they catch me, this time i got distracted by the damn radio. how bad is it?
You sir are screwed...Automatic suspension. Where were you speeding, Belt? Best bet is to hire a lawyer. It shouldn't be a revocation if this is your first, but suspension is most definite.

There is no excuse for 42 over the limit. Thats just wreckless driving.

Even if you were going 42 over, and your radar went off, there is no way in hell you'd have time to slow down enough to NOT get caught. A police officer has eyes, and if they SEE you going that fast, they don't need a radar detector to give you a wreckless driving ticket.

:werd:
But depending on where, most parkways around here speed-limit is 50MPH here. On average, most cars do 75MPH. And no radar would really do much good if you're going that fast.

i spent $200 on my Bel 950 about 3 years ago and it has saved me many times. i see no reason to spend $300-400 when they are by no means fool proof. your best means of defense is being a smart driver, not buying a $300-400 radar detector.
