Default evolution theories?

Just pondering a thing or two here... lets suppose that we are here today because of evolution and not some devine badda boom everything was made in 6 days and such.

Evolution is, for the most part, nature finding ways to keep us alive and well long enough to reproduce and perpetuate the species. Ok, so we can stay alive and healty a lot longer than nature ever really intended. We can also reproduce quite well. We've got that down and have doctors and meds to help make it a successful labor too. We aren't prefect at it, but better than nature.

So, what more does evolution have for us? We've overcome some of the basics of life and can do them on our own now. Will evolution help to fine tune things? Like resistance to disease and ugly people? Ideas? Thougths?

Going on the basis of evolution being true then here is my theory.

As we evolve not all of our advancements have been wise or for the better.

We have succeeded in polluting out air, water, and food supplies. We have succeeded in causing common viruses to evolve to an epidemic rate and a deadly rate. We are driving ourselves to extinction and what will be left is the truly smart creatures...these being the animals, insects and other creatures that can live in nature without destroying everything around it to suit their needs.

BTW clickwhir....you say we are beating nature in your original comment......how do you figure this?

nature is what is killing us...we are indeed beating it but I don't think its in the way you are trying to imply. If we were truly beating nature we would have cured disease, stopped all fires/floods..and in general any natural disaster from ever happening.

In trying to control nature we have only proven that it cannot be controlled.

Waterways get levees to change the flow...the levees break so regularly that its not even funny.

People build on mountainsides...rock and mudslides wipe them out.

People take medicines to cure ills that were caused by previous medicines taken by their parents or themselves.

Yeah we have made some limited medical advancements, minimal ecological advancements...but nature can and will own humans every time they think they have a leg up.

No, I'm not refering that we can control nature. I'm just saying that nature says that we should probably only be living to about 30 or 40 years old. Medical advancements can easily double that.

By nature, birth rates (I don't know the numbers) are less than what we can accomplish.

I don't think I'm stateing what I'm thinking, correctly. Evolution is trying to help us live longer and reproduce better. We've doubled it's efforts if not more.

wouldn't this all be micro-evolution, which is true anyway?
