The 645Ci is coming out like right now, it goes up against the Benz CLK500.
When the new 3-series comes out the coupe version is going to be the 4-series.
BMW is going to odd numbers for all sedans and even numbers for coupes.

Yeah M3 does have a lot of heritage behind the name, not as much with M5 or M6.
Plus aren't they makin a 3 door 1-series hatch?
Oh well, everybody's nomenclature is supposedly a system but there are exceptions in basically every company I can think of.
