Default ok gamers, question about XBL and Mw3 - unable to find games

I was at a friend's house last night. They are on satellite internet, the speeds are good but the pings not so much.

Anyway, we set up her son's gamer tag and had the game try to search for games but let it sit for 30+ minutes and it could not find any other players/games.

It was definitely connecting since were able to register, etc.

Any suggestions? Fixes?

I'm not familiar with MW3 servers, but XBL is the connection service that patches over to the Activision server cluster. If there's a problem @ Activision, then, you'll feel it too.

I've had nights without Halo due to issues @ Bungie.

Give the XBX a static IP then place it into the DMZ and remove it from any port forwarding rules. This will give you the best odds, but even when satellite is at the top of it's connnection speed it will usually time out based on ping alone...get a real connection.
