Damn, every time i post about my burning oil, all i get are responses of people saying "i have xxxxx amount of miles, and i dont burn any oil at all"

congratulations, your car doesnt burn oil. thanks for nothing.

The real question at hand is about going up in weight/grade of my oil.

your supposed to burn oil eventually
you shouldve have the same amount when you do the oil change as from previous
1 qt every 1000 is excessibe, oil pan gasket might be it, but no leaks on your cam seal or head?

Definitely FIND OUT what is causing the oil to be burnt.

There is nothing wrong with going up weight in oil, unless you're getting to one extreme....

I too was burning oil, the cause was the oil pan gasket.. oil leaked out onto the header... so I was literally burning oil

Calm down...........

If you live in a climate that keep the temp high....It will not hurt using 15..........But thats only for southern cali/arizona/etc. and so on.......And do you do a lot of driving at night?.....When it's cooler......Many things can affect it....I ran 20/50 and still burned oil........And I only drove during the day is San Diego.........But it puts more wear on the engine running the thicker oil...............

I now changed to 10W30 Castrol synthetic blend.....on my last oil change..........I will be switching to full synthetic soon...........

I have 125,000 and always burn oil.............1 quart between oil changes..........But with the sythetic....I'll just have to wait and see.......

THanks for the helpful replies guys.

I really gotta look into the oil pan gasket issue, but taking off my 4-1 1-piece header is gonna take hours (bent in radiator support+no space = lots of bad words and many hours of labor).

hey Maxboost, did u ever see any oil drops in your driveway or wherever you park your car?

hey Airon, there are no leaks on the head. Cam seals are clean and everything...
