Here's the first picture of Mitsubishi's next Eclipse, codenamed PS24S. The new coupe looks to be larger, featuring many of Mitsubishi's latest styling cues. No word on whether or not the sporty Mitsu will continue to offer both four- and six-cylinder powerplants, or if it will return to turbocharged four-bangers.
The new Eclipse is based on the all-new Galant platform, and is expected to arrive late in the 2005 model year, or possibly for 2006.

more size, and more weight... just what us eclipse owners dont' need.
Personally... I'd like to see the twin turbo 6g72 (i think that's the code, might be wrong) that was in the 3000gt powering the new eclipse. A non-turbo version of that same engine already powers the GT, GTS models.. maybe going to the same engine and drivetrain offerings as the old 3kGT's might attract more sports-car drivers.
I agree with the marketing argument. I own a 2g, and have no intention of going to a 3g, although my "mom loves it." Like the scion, middle-age crisis situations will buy it trying to relive their youth, while the young will wonder how the bricks got so popular.
