that's just to pay for the overhead for the service, which everyone pays whether or not they ever switch their number. on top of that, providers are allowed to charge an additional one time fee for every number transfer request.

shit i changed my cell phone 4 times and had so many different companies and numbers...i liked my cingular number but thats long gone...so easy to remember...right now i can't even remember my current cell number...
