You guys should be using the gas recommended by your owner's manual. Special case is the 7th gen accord, which gains 10HP on premium because Honda can get better operating costs by claiming the car needs 87 rather than 91.

R&T did a test a year back or so in which 8 cars (one of them a V6 Accord) were tested with their recommended fuel and then some other fuel (with the Accord, 91, and with the others 91 or 87) and in EVERY case the cars lost a little horsepower/torque except for a Saab 9-3 turbo which lost a lot of horsepower and torque...like 10hp/10ft-lbs. But my point is that you're wasting your money by thinking like an idiot that the octane number actually influences how much performance your car has or what mileage you get. But hey, if it makes you feel better in your head :dunno:

Some cars need premium..ie boost, nitrous, high compression, advanced timing...to prevent detonation.

Thank you for filling the role of Captain Obvious temporarily dubcac, but most members on this board do not rely on forced induction, NOS or any sort of advanced engine modifcation. Yet I see a lot of people claiming (on this board and in real life) that their 93 or 94 Octane in their stock Accord V6 or Civic Si gives them extra horsepower when infact the opposite is true.

And I'm curious how these cars can perform so well if their goal is to prevent detonation :db:

Lots of people run advanced ignition timing actually . And your last comment makes no sense at all :fawk:

You know it makes complete sense, you're just afraid to admit it. It's okay. :db:
