Acura/Lexus/Infiniti was created to compete with the likes of BMW/MB not Lincoln!

No where did I say any of those companies were related. Was Morph trying to say that acura/infiniti was related?


The whole "luxury brand" was started by the japanese makers to try and compete with the Germans. That is the point that morph does not know/did not know/ or failes to realize.

 

I understand the reasoning behind using "luxury badging" but it seems pretty stupid to me because if someone is going to pay 40k+ for a car they are looking at creature comforts, looks and reliability. Regardless of the brand on the car they would buy a car that meets these requirements.

As for Honda/Nissan/Toyota competeing with various other lines of cars I dunno it seems pointless because these cars are for the most part in an entirely different classification from the Japanese manufacturers and should continue to compete on their own ground. I would take a Celsior over a Mecedes any day...they have much more class and style for the money.

 

I was using Lincoln as an example of the relationship that Honda has to Acura and Acura's purpose. I realize they are trying to compete with German car manufacturers.

i hear you on the 7 series civics/accords etc. but i mostly like the rsx. but they are making the headlights all big. why are so many companies doing it? and yeah i love bmw with a passion but they need to make this new generation a short lived one. while the performance will no doubt improve, the looks are getting worse. at least the new 3 series isn't too bad. a lot of other companies are making thier cars look better though i.e. the new A8 or E class. i think bmw will slowly get the point but honda doesn't need to. not as long as there are old folk who just want a reliable grocery getter.

 

Ha. Maybe (if you have a GSX-R). But so is VTEC.
