Around here there's this dumb new seatbelt campaign "Click it or ticket"... and the fines are huge. But I guess it's neccessary with all the stupid redneck teen moms who have like 4 little kids crawling around the car as they barrel around curves at twice the limit while drunk and/or high and/or just plain stupid.

Sometimes on billboards they'll even make up an officer's name that rhymes with "ticket." For example:

"Officer Kwiket says click it or ticket."

Officer Kwiket?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?

I am pretty sure that in WI they can now pull you over (primary offense) for not wearing a seat belt..........I am not positive, but they either passed the law already, or are planning on it getting passed in the near future (I could swear that I heard something on the news about it recently).

Here is an older article from the JS.......don't have time to do a more detailed search......... This appears as if as of April, nothing had been passed yet. Anyone from WI know for sure what the deal is?

Yeah, the MD seatbelt campaign is obnoxious, although people should wear the things. Damascus was a sweet place to speed back in the day, lightly policed (I used to live in Boyds, real close). Now, like everything else MD/VA/DC, it's getting slowly but surely locked down. Weak.

How many of you get searched when you get pulled over?
I was behind a cop one night, he turned on his left signal to make a turn then I drove passed him, then he got right behind me (never made the turn, just went into the left turning lane). I was scurred, thought for sure I was being pulled over.

i know for sure theyve been trying real hard but these sort of things take years to pass. i wouldn't expect it as a primary offense before 2005.

click it or ticket simply means they will not hesitate to give you a citation should they pull you over for not buckling up...they do like to give the impression they will pull you over for not wearing a seatbelt, but the simple fact is they can't as it's a waste of time in the eyes of the court...
