i wasn't huge or anything. just scared the crap out of me when i almost walked face first into it. it'd say it was about 3 inches from tip to tip.

Spiders are nasty, nasty creatures. Man. Just frickin' horrible. I remember as a kid, I said to myself "these things can't be too bad, they're just trying to live too, right?"
So Buddhist of me... until I realized that their version of living included biting me until I died, then eating me.

When I was in Pasadena last Thursday I saw my first Black Widow. I plan on it being my last.

Here in MD, we have both black widows and brown recluses. Recluses are considered worse because they jump, real aggressive. Black widows hide out in dark musty places like garages, sheds, barns, etc. They're bad news, but you won't die unless several bite you in succession. My dad had to clean out his garage as a teenager, he found a whole nest of them... set it on fire, I think.

I remember seeing tarantulas in Arizona as a kid... they were slow and pokey, and didn't scare me because I was faster than they were. I also saw a scorpion in the Grand Canyon. It was both fast and scary, but interesting. For some reason they dont' freak me out like spiders do. I guess I don't like things which look bad and move fast.

:lmao:
I say the same shit...everytime somebody tries to say spiders aren't bad, I say "Man these things can kill and eat you" or "They are the spawn of Satan!"

we have both black widows and brown recluses around here too...I haven't seen a recluse yet (or maybe they're not as distinguishable as widows are) but damn scary are they. I think I'd probably die because if one jumped on me I'd faint...then it would tie me up in a web and suck out my insides. :ugh:

Scorpions are evil and nasty looking...and they give me the creeps, but I'm not really scared of them...I guess because they don't look like they can jump on your neck and suck all your blood out.

i tried to kill a wolf spider once with my shoe, like hitting it with it. the thing was about 2'' and when i hit it, it just ran off. l8r i found it again and jumped off my bed with my shoes on this time, i kicked right before i hit it (you know, for more force cause i only wiegh 125). when i lifted my foot it just rolled over and died. i think. so i threw it outside. those mother f-ers are tough.

and then there was the one when i was living with nightshade. me wes and him were all affraid of it cause it was huge and gaurding the little boys room. but fortunaley n was a name and smashed it good.
