I say this for multiple reasons.
1) If I have the choice, I always use the "Aw" over "Aye", because "Aye" sounds to redneck American for me. Like the name Anna, I always say it like "Awnna", not "Ann-ah"
2) HS German class. That's just the way A's are in German, it kinda bled over into my English.
