external hard drives.. pc & mac

is it possible to get an external drive off the shelf and have it compatible with both pc and mac?

i have a lot of stuff on a pc laptop that i want to use on a mac.. and vice versa.. mostly photos for editing, is it possible?

As long as the drive is formatted to FAT32 it will work with both

Yup. And I would format the drive with the PC vs. using the Mac to format the drive.
