Seriously you get a pool so you can cool off in the summer and get exercise when its hot, if you heat it (granted not hot but still) then why bother? If you get cold it means you aren't moving around enough to get your blood pumping to keep you warm and again its a waste.

If you want a heated pool just buy a fucking hot tub so your lazy ass doesn't get cold on a hot day.

I know when I go swim at the river or lake it sure as hell isn't heated and I stay plenty comfortable.
Have you ever owned a pool?

If spending $500 to heat your pool will allow you to swim in your >$5000 pool for another couple of months a year, then it makes pretty good sense to me. I don't care who you are, if you're swimming outside in October in central Illinois, you're not going to be comfortable.

My parent's pool has a solar panel that heats the pool. It was a cost upfront, but is free heat after that. And it lets us swim from April to late September, as opposed to June to August.

Heating a pool isn't stupid. It just lets you use your toy much, much more.

I guess I can see it in that case, but I have known people in warm parts of the country that heat their pools year round and it makes nosense to me to heat it in the summer time at all.

I haven't owned a pool myself but I have been swimming in unheated pools as late as mid october in nor cal which was pretty chilly but still tolerable for doing laps.
