Default Fire Extinguishers. v.haveyoueverusedone?

I saw a recent article on how a 2 year old died in a car crash on one of the freeways I take every day. Car accident+fire+baby seat=

some bystanders had fire extinguishers but it was too late

anyway I was thinking - i've never had to use a fire extinguisher.

I'm sure some of you have had to. Share the stories, even if its lame.

I was a theatre/stage tech in high school and as you probably guessed, everything backstage is painted black. Well I set off a pretty large fire extinguisher and blanketed the ENTIRE theatre's backstage with a thick layer of white powder.

I have two fire extinguishers here at home.

When we roll to a fire, it's always someones job to grab the water can. More often than not, a room and contents fire can be extinguished with that or a fire extinguisher.

Once, and it was when I too was a lighting rigger / grip after HS.
The company had rented a rack of floods. Unknown to us, someone had re-lamped them way over the max wattage.
And when they were faded in -- for the first time -- during dress rehearsal, the fixtures started to smoke and the bases melted, setting fire to the gels. :eek3:

I don't know why the circuit breaker didn't trip, but I lunged for the extinguisher at the first lick of fire.
It blanketed the stage below in foam, and a couple actors took an impromptu shower.
But in the end, the show went on. h:

I did have one in the old GTI on account of the nitrous, but thankfully I never needed it.

IMO, you need at least two for a decent sized apartment.
One for kitchen disasters and one to buy some time if you're trapped in the bedroom and a fire breaks out.

I've never used one, and damn. I don't even think our apartment has one.

No, but I wish I had. I've had 3 vehicles catch on fire while driving. Now I keep one in the car.
