in boot camp for the navy, we had to put on all the fire gear and go in a room on fire and use an extinguisher on it. i think it was a trash can fire or something.

I've never used one personally, there was only two times where I've seen it in action:

Once in HS when I was on a school bus, this kid was smoking on the bus. The driver said put it out or he'll put it out for him. Kid was being a prick so the bus driver sprayed him in the face. It was like a powder.

Other time, probably around that time period, my mom was cooking pot roast in the broiler (bottom-most part of the oven) when she was taking out the roast, this hanging towel caught fire. My brother sprayed the pot roast

I keep one in my truck (double purpose car fire/camp fire), in the garage, and in the kitchen. I've used them a couple times. Mainly as a backup when "playing with fire" in my buddy's driveway. h:

I also have used them for target practice before. Got one with a 9mm and it sprayed foam about 30 feet and rocketed into the air

Used the a few times mostly at rock crawl competitions and track events but once at a small shop fire.

Pretty easy to use the key is to keep a level head about you and don't waste the contents.

I used them at the hotels and gave training classes in their use.
