Default pc cooling techniques?

i see these "hard drive cooler" things that go in a hard drive slot and are supposed to keep the hard drives cooler, does this shit really work? my computer room gets really hot (sauna type hot) and its the computers fault because it did the same shit when i was at my moms house. what other products should i seek that will keep the computer cooler? (no water cooling please)

thanks

I have a 10,000 RPM ultra 2 wide scsi drive for my OS. It gets hot at 10k RPM so I have a HD cooler on it. The drive is significantly cooler. If the room is hot because of the computer, turn on the AC on or (forgive me for even suggesting it) turn the computer off.

you need a good case. where is the case located? also, keep your computer clean, the dust will really cause the inside to heat up faster.

naturally the power supply and CPU creates the most heat, followed by the harddrive.

-power supplies have built in fans. you can swap them for faster fans (ones that move more air). or invest in one of those silent antec ones. they are dope.

-cpu. dont go skimmpy on the heatsink and fan.

-harddrive- which are you talking about? the fans that blow "up" at the harddrive? my antec case comes with a braket that holds a 80mm fan right in front of the two drives. it moves the air from outside the case, through the harddrives, and to the back where it exits from the exhaust fans.

- then of couse an intake fan on the bottom to move the air around the PCI cards.

if you're not gonna to extreme cooling (water, phase) then the only way to get your system cooler is to get better fans, but they're loud

I have two 80CFM fans hat are ouder than hair dryers....i turned them down with a fanbus but i also have 6 other fans cooling the system

Hmm, I could dig around for some websites, Active cooling solutions as I remember them (and is from several years ago) are really geared towards CPU cooling only. There might be new water designs that take the hard drives into account but I kind of doubt it.

It was more of a joke, sorry

bty, is that from League of EG?
