Lexus IS300... what a joke.
The car is kind of like a luxury/sport sedan. I think the styling of the car is excellent, and now that it is a five speed, it's even that much more better. But, I was pretty dissapointed when I actually looked up the numbers.
The new five speed only mustered up a 0-60 time of 7.4 seconds when tested by Sport Compact Car. It also had a quarter mile time of 15.3 @ 90mph. Rated at 215hp @ 5800 and 218 lb-ft @ 3800, the 3.0L displacement obviously gives the torque advantage over any of our NA four bangers. Car also weighs 3,255 pounds.
Now, let's put it in comparison with the RSX Type-S. Car is rated from the factory at 200hp @ 7400 and 142 lb-ft @ 6800. With the K20A 2.0L i-VTEC motor nestled into a 2,767 lb chassis. When tested by car and driver, they got a 0-60 time of 6.1 seconds. Which is 1.3 seconds faster than the V6 Lexus
. I couldn't believe that, the quarter mile time of the RSX Type-S was 14.8 @ 95mph. Half a second faster
.
I think that from the factory the IS300 is just a cruiser with a little pep and a lot of style. But, I'd think that the 2JZ-GE block would have A LOT of potential, but so does the K20.
I suppose that it's just a matter of preference, for ~$34,000 you get superb styling, good handling and performance, and the pussy factor (no other way to put it). For ~$23,000, you get a high-revving, decent handling sports car from Honda Motors Co
. Not to mention the RWD, FWD difference.
They all have good opportunity modification and are basically much different cars, hardly comparible to really any Honda, excpet for maybe the TSX or Euro-R? Just my 2¢.

. Lexus is a Lexus, Honda is a Honda, no matter how you stack it. To us it's different and to some females, but not the majority. Don't go off on the materialistic girl thing either cause even if you don't think your car has anything to do with it, it does
.
