WinXP networking problem...need help
Sup yo....I am trying to help my friend out with this problem
He has 3 computers on his network all in the same workgroup.
Computers A, B, and C.
Computer A can see B, and C. It also has access to all the shares.
Computer B can see C and access all of its shares.
Computer C can see B and access all of its shares
B and C can see A, but can't access the shares.
I even went to the point of sharing the entire drive on A and still nothing.
No firewall programs.....File Sharing is enabled on all 3 computers....
What am I missing. I feel so stupid. I have the same setup at home and it works just fine for me.

Nope....guest account is not disabled
You know what? I remember something about guest accounts now. I think I need to check that option.
Anyway, Computers B and C can see A on the same workgroup, but when you click to access the computer it rejects the connection...bleh

Try running the network setup wizard.... that usually magically makes them work. I had a similar problem with 5 computers.... some could see some, some could see all.... just ran the setup wizard and then all could see all.

Win2000 was so much better when it comes to managing shares

Also, go to folder options and uncheck to use simple file sharing. I had serious issues with XP and 2000 server networking until I undid that. Now, its basically the same as 2000. XP is basically 2000. Its NT5.1 where 2000 is NT5. There's no difference in the kernal, filing system, or architecture. We're about ready to deploy many XP machines into our enterprise at work. We run a 2000 native mode domain and XP has fit right in with active directory with no problems so far.
