Default Mouse won't work...

To all the computer savvy folks out there, maybe you could help me out here.

I recently put together my own computer (with a help of a friend) and everything is working properly. I decided to add a 6-1 internal memory card reader that is hooked up to the USB (4 pin)of the motherboard. But when we plug it in, and start up the computer, the mouse doesn't work. :wtf: But when we disconnect it, the mouse works again. Does anyone have a clue on why this would happen?

or even try switching the ports (i.e. plug the mouse into the port for the card reader, and the card reader into the port the mouse was using).

Well the mouse is connected to the PS/2 port in the back of the PC and the USB Card Reader is connected directly to the Mo/Bo. They have nothing in common in terms of how they're connected to the PC. Thanks though.

oh, for some reason i figured it was a usb mouse. :dunno:

what if you plug the card reader in after it's already running and the mouse is working?

wouldn't this accomplish nothing if they were both on the same IRQ?
