no braking with your feet, and you use both hands to brake.

from what i read...newbs should avoild bikes with peaky engines. like fatbooty said, the SV650 is a good bike to start on if you want something bigger than a 250. also it can be a bike you grow with, not jsut a "starter" bike.

but i dont know crap on the topic. just play it safe.
