Cork provides kind of a pop effect. The center of a baseball is sometimes cork surrounded by a rope like material. Also provides you with a lighter bad. The only thing is it does decrease the strength of the bat, increasing the probability that you'd break it.

In my opinion all of Sammy's records are tarnished now. His 500 HR's seriuosly come into question now. Even if he says he has never used a corked bat. Who knows how many of his HR's were hit with corked bats. To me his slugging accomplishments are tarnished now

:werd: but to tell you the truth I like Sosa more than Bonds. I cant stand Bonds. And in a way I think he's a cheater too. For one you know he has to be on steroids. And two, he wears all that damn body armor so he's not afraid to crowd the plate. And umpires eject pitchers for throwing in and brushing people off. I think baseball has been changing for the worse. They need to go back to the old style of play
