Forget that. I hate weddings enough as it is, let alone stupid crap like he's pulling.
My friends sister is having a destination wedding this year.. in Jamaica, oh, and on top of the usual expenses.. the guests and wedding party are expected to pay their own way. I think thats 100% wrong. I told Sarah if we ever get married its 1) not going to be huge, and 2) if we go somewhere, we're paying the way.

The problem is he really is my homie (not to mention probably the rest of my buddies will be there) and all three of us would honestly like to go. It's just so much damn work. I'll also look like a douche if I'm the only person in our crew that doesn't make it.

In a similar situation. My friend is getting married next month to a girl from Maryland (He's from Charlotte).. As per Greek custom, the wedding is being held in the bride's hometown. I'm in the wedding party, so I'm going, even though it's gonna be tough. And I went up for the engagement party last September.
Well his brother and some of the other guys are trying to throw a bachelor party, and they've been talking for a while about making it a whole weekend trip, going somewhere like Cancun and shit. I made myself perfectly clear from the beginning that I don't think that's a good idea bc a lot of people, including myself, won't be able to make it. Well they finally decided they were gonna go to the beach, and I told his bro I wouldn't be able to go due to lack of funds (more on that in another thread in a few weeks
)...and having to work because I currently don't have any help at the restaurant. He told me that was "fucked up, but ok". luckily it was over text, so I couldn't punch him in the mouth. But I did tell him off.
That said...I wouldn't go. If you hold something like that out of town, you can't realistically expect that everybody's going to make it. If they have a problem with it, tell them to suck your balls.

If you don't want to go, just tell them sorry you cant be part of the wedding party cuz you can't make it. One of my best friends got married in Vegas on a Thursday and i just let him know that I couldn't go.
