The easiest way to figure out where a car was made is by it's VIN. If it begins with...

1 = Made in America
2 = Made in Canada
3 = Mexico
J = Japan
(and I think) G = Germany

My car was made in the good old USA and the VIN starts with a W.

 

i know for honda if it starts with a J it was made in japan, if it starts with a number it was made in good ole ohio. :chuckles:

VW does it differently. If there's a 'WOB' in the VIN it means it's built in Wolfsburg, Germany and there's something like 'PEB' for Peublo, Mexico.

Basically though, all Jettas sold in the USA are made in Mexico. Some Golfs are made in Germany and some are made in Brazil. I think all of our New Beetles are made in Mexico too, but I'm not sure. Passat, I have no clue.

Yeah and you have to push the shifter down to get into reverse. VW shifters blow, including the one on my dad's Audi TT Roadster.
