Default someone explain this real quick....(bandwidth q)

im on 56k. :squint: my computer shows that im connected at 48Kb/s. ok thats fine. now when i am dling files...i best i can get is 5-6Kb/s and average about 3-4Kb/s

what gives.

that seems about right.. when i was on 56k average download speed i would get is 4-5kb

The higher number is your connection speed, and how fast pages load. Download speeds are always slower.

because you go through a router at the isp that tops out at 10k, the rest is due to quality of phone lines (physical quality)

Are you guys kidding??
56K(53K max) dial up will never get higher than 5-6kb no matter what.

I doubt it's the router.

more like the ISP has banks of modems which are also 56kb/s.

i doubt their routers top out at 10kb/s
