HAN - Fixing a cracked laptop LCD...
Not all of us have the same laptop..
I just wanna know if someone here's done it before. I've replaced other parts on different laptops.. just wanna know if it's a fairly easy procedure.
Seems it, so far from what I'm reading. But for shits and giggles.. Acer Aspire.
Just did it yesterday actually.
Pretty straight forward. Look at the manufacturers website, you will have to look around, but they will have full instructions on how to do it.
Usually you pull the battery, keyboard and a couple access panels. pull the Wireless antenna wires, the monitor cable(s). Unscrew 4 bolts (or so) and then do everything in reverse to put it back on.
I usually mark all of the cables with a sharpie, both the cable and the connector, so i remember where they go.
If it's your first time, it should take 45-1hr being really really careful.
Took me about 25-30, as i have done it before.
I don't know where to find parts though, i used a parts laptop for the new screen.

h: A lot of places didn't have what I needed in stock... finally found a place.. so it'll hopefully be here in the next couple days. Was your spare parts lappy the same make as the one you were replacing?
I've done it.
It's an intuitive disassemble. Do whatever you can to get to the keyboard. When you lift it out, look at the screen housing for micro screws or clips.
It's do-able, but with the price of replacement screens (eBay), you might want to just upgrading the darn thing.

Sweet... yeah.. it seemed pretty straight forward from what I was reading online... and now that I'll have everything apart, maybe I'll put the new keyboard I ordered 6 months ago in too.

Mine was the full unit, if it's just the screen, it might be more involved.
Oh, and yeah, it would be a perfect time to replace the keyboard, it'll just pop right in when your putting everything back together.

depends on your laptop. I changed my sister's LCD on her Dell, just snap off the bezel around the screen, take out about 4 screws, take old screen out (one ribbon cable), insert cable in new screen, reassemble. took like 10 minutes.

I have taken my Dell apart far enough to know what to do
Surprisingly there are a lot of instructions online
