Default Questions and concerns on Coilovers..

I was interested in them, but after talking to the guys here, all they had to say were bad things about them.. About having no rebound, and no real performance enhancement next to a good set of springs. And how the ride suffers. I need to know ya'll input on this for a daily driver civic that I would like to handle as best I can get it.. Are coilovers just a hype for height adjustment or should I go with springs??

First thing that worries me is the fact that your running oem stockies (which is what GR-2's are, they are no stiffer than stock struts) with stiffer lowering springs. It worries me that you may have come to think the way your car rides and drives now is exceptable.

That being said, the single biggest mistake that gets people that don't know any better yacking about how coilovers or sleave coilovers suck is this. Running them with weak ineffective struts. It's not the fault of the coilover if you have bouce or coltrol issues. You didn't do your research to find out how stiff the coilovers, nor did you research how stiff of a spring can you run with those stiffer coilovers (or springs for that matter).

For a little more info on this topic go here and read my last post in the thread. Read it and comment, I'll give you constructive advice that will help you if you should have any further questions.

if coilovers have no rebound, then it would not come back up after it compresses.

who ever told you that is clueless about suspensions.

people who run their mouths about coilovers have never, in my experience, actually ridden on them. they bla bla bla about this and that and then when you ask them what they have they say, "oh id never have those on my car"

oh, well than i really value your opinion a lot :slap:

i dont mind mine...but i cant wait to go for full coilovers.

by "they have no rebound" theyre exagerating, somehow implying that an adjustable perch effects how quickly the spring and strut travel morons who talk out their ass...

your comparison between lineal and progressive spring rates is really well put.
