above 850 is rare, i've seen 865, 700 is an automatic approval.. my last customers were 838 each.. very ...

read my previous post.. having inquries for reason whether they are excessive or not (and when buying a house they can get excessive) is viewed in the lenders eyes as ok and they wont hold it against you, even when your score reflects them...

that means you had good credit, but you didnt have any car credit.. and you would "want" a co-signer for rate purposes and the more money down the better...

above 700 doesnt always guarantee approval for a loan. there are other factors such as existing debt, income, and stability (employment and residence).

for an auto loan.. banks and CUs in utah consider it an automatic approval.. most of them have computers that take the score in and throw out an approval basis.. if its a 700 its an automatic approval.. of course their debt to income could limit their payment.. but they still get the best rate

Paid off three two car loans early.
Paid off one personal unsecured loan early.
Paid off three credit cards.
Have $33000 in credit available, only $2000 used.
Never been late on a payment.

My rating was somewhere in mid 800's if I remember correctly.

let's say john doe has a 730 rating.

he makes $55k, has $7k in unsecured credit card debt, $10k in student loans, has no collateral (like a house), has worked at his current job for 2 months, and keeps changing apartments every month, with rent at $800/month.

does that look OK to a bank?

reason why i brought this up is because i know several people with credit scores above 700, who either didn't get approved or received less than ideal interest rates.
