How long did it take you to learn stick?
i'd been watching people i know for a long time, and had the mechanics of how it worked in my head. Took about an hour total (little over the course of 3 days) going up and down my driveway, which has a nice hill on it. then, it was just a matter of playing with the car to see what she can do and what she likes. thats been over the course of a year. been driving a stick for 3 years now. only stall now, cause my brains somewhere else
oh, and i learned on my Cruiser. brand spanky new car, and im burning the clutch out of it
that was the only manual at my house, well besides our 1928 plymouth, and dad was NOT gonna let me drive that to practice

i think it probably took me a week or two before i was completly comfortable driving one.. i learned when i first met my current bf.. i asked if i could drive his car and w/o knowing my name he let me
..so he taught me then i bought a stick..and ill never go back to an auto.. plus i always wanna drive with my left foot when i do and look like an idiot slamming on the brake

i'm not slamming on the brake, but every time i go to start one, my left foot goes to the floor, and when i get to a stop sign, i go for the floor again and the "imaginary stick" thats on the floor

sticks are boring. the only way i would get a car is if its an auto with an autostick kinda thing, or a 6-speed sequential tranny :naughty:
took me about an hour before I felt comfortable driving around. Then after the 1st week I was a pro at it. It is easy to perfect if you can drive a car that's stick non stop instead of an hour here and there. Necessity is the mother of invention (or learning in this case).
about 30min to get good enough to drive in traffic. then another 5min or so to get starting on hill using he parking brake technique down.
