i'd been watching people i know for a long time, and had the mechanics of how it worked in my head. Took about an hour total (little over the course of 3 days) going up and down my driveway, which has a nice hill on it. then, it was just a matter of playing with the car to see what she can do and what she likes. thats been over the course of a year. been driving a stick for 3 years now. only stall now, cause my brains somewhere else

i'm not slamming on the brake, but every time i go to start one, my left foot goes to the floor, and when i get to a stop sign, i go for the floor again and the "imaginary stick" thats on the floor

sticks are boring. the only way i would get a car is if its an auto with an autostick kinda thing, or a 6-speed sequential tranny :naughty:

took me about an hour before I felt comfortable driving around. Then after the 1st week I was a pro at it. It is easy to perfect if you can drive a car that's stick non stop instead of an hour here and there. Necessity is the mother of invention (or learning in this case).

about 30min to get good enough to drive in traffic. then another 5min or so to get starting on hill using he parking brake technique down.

i havent learned either....my boyfriend let me try in his celica...and i can start it, and pull out w/o stalling or peeling out....but i cant get out of 1st gear...im too scared to mess his car up! ...i tried it once, he made me go into 2nd.....his mistake b/c i wasnt ready!! and the 1st time his check engine light ever came on was b/c of that! i, um...didnt have the clutch in the whole way and i slammed it into 2nd... OOPS..

needless to say, i havent driven it since! i start it, thats it!

i think im scared of it! and im too lazy anyway, i wouldnt want to drive stick....i'd just drive around in 1st gear all the time b/c im THAT lazy sometimes!
