Might I add, you need a sh*tload of willpower. Can't rely on patches or gum or candy or other shiz like that.

Did you quit cold turkey?

Plenty of people (me included) quit with the patch or gum--it's kind of insulting to read that it's not the way to go when it worked for me personally.

Yeahp. One day I just stopped. I slowly started up again for a couple of weeks about a year and a half ago, but quickly tossed the smokes away.

'Tis good that the patch worked for you though. Honestly, I didn't use the patch nor the gum because I couldn't afford it (edit: that, and I didn't want my parents to know that I even smoked). Oh well, I didn't spend anything to quit, so I'm straight.

I wouldn't be concerned with going on the patch during finals or something like that. If you haven't been a "career smoker" then it tends to make you feel really really really good because it's basically a constant nicotine drip. I wouldn't start like the day of a test, but a week before or something (assuming you have the time) would be good.
I like that feeling. Too bad it goes away if you smoke a long time.

he should've read the package... it plainly says that if nausea, dizziness, or a few other symptoms occur, the dosage is too high and to go on to step 2.

Yea. The only way someone can quit is if they want to. Otherwise the patches and all that are useless.
