Buying cheap knockoff rims because they're light weight, you don't really care about the style and you just want that particular size is fine.
Buying cheap knockoff rims specifically to cop the style of an expensive rim is lame. It's like going to PayLess and getting fakemeout Jordans.

See, I think you've got it backwards.
Buying a knock off for performance reasons is lame. You buy the brand name because they are higher QUALITY.
Buying a knock off because you like the style is fine. You aren't paying for performance, but because you like the style without the price. I mean come on, even Mugen knocked off different styles...
